madagascar

Two years ago Rob & Glenda were invited to minister in Madagascar. After much prayer and waiting on the Lord, the time has come!

From Wednesday 24 August to Saturday 28 August, they will have the amazing opportunity to minister the grace message to 600 leaders in Tamatave, Southern Madagascar. This is part of a minstry trip to South Africa and Madagascar, to see the full itinerary, click here.

God's endorsement is on this trip and we all expect amazing breakthroughs to come for the people of Madagascar. Please partner with Rob & Glenda in prayer and see the poorest country in the world transformed!

Some facts about Madagascar:

  • Madagascar, commonly called “The Big Island”, is the fourth largest island in the world. Madagascar is 1590 km in length and 600 km in width. It covers an area of 578.000 km², roughly equivalent to the state of California and more than the size of France.
  • It has a population of about 18 million.
  • Malagasy flora and fauna is unique, preserving over 200,000 species of plants and animals only found in Madagascar and nowhere else on earth. They include the famous lemurs, the carnivorous fossa, many bird families and several baobab species. While the  island makes up just 0.4% of the earth's total landmass, its plant and animal species make up roughly 4% of the planet's total.
  • Madagascar has also one of the richest collections of flora in the world, including many species of orchids, such as the white-flowered Angraecum Sesquipedal, the rarest of all orchids.
  • Madagascar has very rich sources of precious gemstones especially sapphires and rubies.
  • Official languages are Malagasy, French and English
  • GDP is $400 per capita.
  • 50% of Malagasy people practise a form of ancestral worship and 45% are traditional Christian. The remaining 5% are a mix of mainly Islam and Hinduism.

Thanks to the geographic isolation of Madagascar and its diversified regions, Malagasy flora and fauna has become unique, preserving over 200,000 species of plants and animals only found in Madagascar and nowhere else on earth.

They include the famous lemurs (an infraorder of primates), the carnivorous fossa, many bird families and several baobab species.

Madagascar fauna differs from that of nearby Africa because of its very high rate of endemism and the absence of big cats.

Madagascar
is considered a must-see by all birdwatchers and butterfly specialists.
