Obviously a big heart of love is king. Love trumps all! Those who truly operate in love can reach a multitude of people.
I think to go in guns blazing how God hates homosexuality is not the answer and doesn't help anyone. Only the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit and a revelation of the truth will help and transform people.
The Bible is very clear that homosexuality is wrong. Anyone who honors the Word of God cannot deny that. It speaks of it as unnatural and a perversion. I find it hard to believe that someone can truly love Christ but dishonor his Word.
I see homosexuality as a temptation that people either give into or resist. Just like adultery, pornography, child molestation, lying, murdering, cheating, jealousy, slander and so on. None of those things are a part of who we truly are. We're created in Gods image. And God is none of those things. Unbelievers are fallen and have a sinful nature and therefore don't have the power of the New Nature to walk in the spirit. But born again people do. The thing is, walking in the spirit is not automatic, we choose to. Many Christians don't. They simply live by their feelings and by what's in their minds. And if their minds are rooted in the philosophies of this world then in their thinking, homosexuality is OK. But the fact is, they're not walking by their reborn spirit in fellowship with the Holy Spirit and walking in the truth of the spirit covenant- grace. I believe it's impossible for someone to claim to be a born again homosexual and be walking in the spirit. Their spirit would be screaming out to them that what they are doing is wrong. Sin is so foreign to our reborn spirit. Our spirit that has been made perfect in Christ does not want to sin nor can it be tempted to sin. It's our mind and body that are tempted. In order to walk in homosexuality and not have any problem with it, you have to walk from your mind and body - flesh, and shut off to the spirit. As soon as you go into the spirit you'll know that it's wrong. It's like a christian living in adultery. There's many ways they could try and justify it and feel ok about it in their mind, but as soon as they try and walk in the spirit and spend time with God, guess what they're going to be hearing and knowing in their spirits as true? There's no way a born again Christian can walk powerfully for God and be living in adultery or homosexuality, because they are constantly having to cut themselves off from the spirit realm in order to feel OK about what they're doing.
And this idea of 'how can we deny their love' shouldn't even be a question. It's like saying about a murderer, 'How can you deny their love for killing people?' or a child molester, 'It's who they are, they just don't like adults, how can you deny their love for children?' - We can't even ask these questions because these are illegitimate loves that are unnatural, perverted and shouldn't exist.
The first time we hear about some guy being married to 3 different ladies and they all live together or a 50 year old man being married to a 12 year old girl and having sex, it horrifies you, right? But I guarantee if lots of people were doing it and promoting it and putting it on TV and demanding rights to practise it, that initial horror everyone feels gets worn down and we eventually start thinking that it's not that bad. That's exactly what happened with homosexuality and abortion. The first time you heard about such things existing you instinctively knew it was wrong and were horrified, but the more you see others around you accepting it, the more acceptable it gets. But this is all happening in the mind realm. The spirit realm is always perfect truth and will never accept such things.
It's hard to convince people who have been captivated by the deceptive philosophies of this world - ultimately it's the spirit realm they have to be awakened to. That's why going in against them for their homosexuality is a bad idea, they'll just get their defenses up. You have to go in through the way of love and truth - that they're lost and cut off from God, but that God is calling them back into relationship with him, not counting their sins against them. But the only way is Christ and his gift of righteousness, not their self righteousness.
Hope this helps
