What to expect...

 

Sunday meetings

  • On the way in you’ll be met by our friendly greeters at the door and welcomed through to our meeting hall.
  • For first time visitors you’ll receive a valuable gift pack to honor you and thank you for taking the time to be with us. (Either in English or Chinese and includes: a book, a worship CD, a teaching CD, some information about us and a pen.)
  • Some friendly ushers can help you find a seat and introduce you to people if you would like, or if you prefer, feel free to find your own way.
  • The service is run in English, however we do have earphone sets with Cantonese translation if you or your guests require.
  • The hall is large and spacious and you’ll find the ambiance is warm, relaxed, joyful, inviting and friendly.
  • We usually kick off at 10am with worship that is lively and upbeat as we join together to praise God and celebrate his freedom and goodness. This normally progresses into gentler worship that is more intimate as we enjoy God’s presence and find great joy in adoring him.
  • Then onto some short announcements and the taking up of our offering.
  • We then let the kids go through to Children’s Church which is on the 5th floor and caters for ages 3-12. We have excellent resources and teachers that are passionate about seeing children raised up into their full potential and becoming a great blessing to the world.
  • (We also have a room for parents with young children on the 5th floor that has a live video feed of the service.)
  • Now it’s time for the preaching/teaching of the Word of God. This is always very encouraging, motivating and empowering, as well as fun and uplifting. The main speaker is Rob Rufus the lead pastor, yet from time to time you’ll also hear from some of our other great pastors or guest speakers.
  • We generally conclude with a time of worship and ministry which are often very powerful times.
  • Once the meeting is dismissed (usually around 12:15pm) the hall generally bursts into lively fellowship, as people enjoy freshly brewed coffee and snacks served at the back of the hall (free of course!).
  • We also have an amazing ministry team near the front of the stage that happily ministers prayer and some counseling to those that require further ministry.
  • There is also a resource table that has all our latest books and worship albums available at the back of the hall that will give you a better insight into the message of grace and the goodness of God that we are proclaiming.

Prayer meeting:

These are powerful and exciting meetings and a little less structured than our Sunday gatherings. They usually kick off with a short stirring talk and then straight into lively praise and worship. We usually get “lost in God” in these times with the Holy Spirit often breaking out in prophecy, gifts of the Spirit, words of knowledge, healings and more. Then it’s all guns blazing with some powerful times of intercessory prayer and/or petitioning prayers for ourselves, our City and different situations and people around the world. One thing is for sure, everyone generally leaves feeling uplifted, strengthened and excited about Jesus and the life He’s empowering us to live!

 

Integrate groups:

These are our smaller group fellowships that help to integrate people relationally into the life of our church. They are in various locations around Hong Kong and usually in people’s homes or a restaurant.  They are either run as general fellowship groups or as specific focus groups like: business, finances, crafts, sports, marriage, parenting and more.

The leaders of these groups are people who the pastors of City Church recognize and have appointed to lead them. This ensures that they all represent our core vision and values and serve to integrated people into the life of the church.
